The Adirondack (5-2) used a five-run explosion in the eighth inning to get past the Utica (4-4) 12-6 on Wednesday at Donovan Stadium.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.
Alex Simone racked up six RBIs on five hits for the Adirondack. He doubled in the seventh inning, singled in the first, fifth, and eighth innings, and homered in the ninth inning.
Ian Tresser improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Adirondack. Tresser struck out one, walked none and gave up one hit.
Matt Coughlin (0-1) took the loss for the Utica. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
