Nate Esposito drove in the go-ahead run to give the Corvallis Knights (1-0) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Corvallis Knights hung on to beat the Portland Stars (1-1) 8-7 on Sunday.

Caleb Whalen to start the eighth. He then went from first to second on a single by Nick Torres. Finally, Esposito came to the plate with the score tied at seven in the eighth inning, and hit a sacrifice fly, plating Whalen.

Nate Roberts racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Corvallis Knights. He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

Brandon Jackson got the win for the Corvallis Knights. He allowed one run over one inning. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Tyler Kotchik (0-1) took the loss for the Portland Stars. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out one, and allowed one run.
