Matt Hibbert brought home the winning run to give the Hawaii Stars (4-2) the lead in the seventh inning, as the Hawaii Stars hung on to beat the Maui Na Koa Ikaika (2-4) 5-2 on Wednesday.
Steven Tedesco singled to start the seventh. He then went from second to third on a single by Brenden Davis. Finally, Hibbert came to the plate with the score tied at two, and reached on an error, plating Tedesco.Hibbert racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Hawaii Stars. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the ninth inning.
The Hawaii Stars were led by Tedesco's hitting. Tedesco went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the third, seventh, and ninth innings.
Roman Martinez looked sharp on the mound. Martinez held the Maui Na Koa Ikaika hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Ronnie Loeffler improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Hawaii Stars. He allowed two runs over six innings. Loeffler struck out one, walked four and gave up two hits.
Chad Blackwell couldn't get it done on the bump for the Maui Na Koa Ikaika, taking a loss. He lasted just eight innings, walked none, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
