An impressive two-way performance from Kaid Lutz led the Med Hat Knights (1-0) to a 11-5 win Saturday over the Calgary Selects, as Lutz came up huge at the dish and on the bump.
Lutz racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Med Hat Knights. He doubled in the third innings and singled in the fourth and seventh innings.
Lutz put together a nice outing. The Calgary Selects (1-2) managed just one hit off of Lutz, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 1 2/3 innings of work.
The Med Hat Knights blew out the Calgary Selects thanks to 11 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Med Hat Knights scored four runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Riley McDonnell, an RBI double by Kevin Ellefson, a single by Lutz, a sacrifice fly by Justin Logan, and a single by Caydon Rayner.
Brenden Schafer got the win for the Med Hat Knights despite allowing five runs over five innings. He struck out three, walked three and surrendered nine hits.
Sam Wilson (0-1) took the loss for the Calgary Selects. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
