Markus Duckworth had two extra base hits as the DeKalb County Liners (23-14) took home a 9-5 victory over the Rockford Foresters (8-29) at Founders Field on Friday.
He doubled in the first and second innings.The Rockford Foresters couldn't get anything going as long as Brent Mueller was on the mound. Mueller held the Rockford Foresters hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.
Sean Hudson was effective even in defeat, mowing down six the DeKalb County Liners batters and allowing one run.
The Rockford Foresters were led by Nick Richter's hitting. Richter went 4-5, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first, third, fifth, and seventh innings.
David Deliz recorded his first win of the year for the DeKalb County Liners. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out three, walked four and surrendered eight hits.
Cody Love (0-3) took the loss for the Rockford Foresters. He allowed eight runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out two.
Erik Lockwood, Duckworth, Charlie Dennehey and Jay Mueller helped lead the DeKalb County Liners. They combined for 10 hits and five RBIs.
