A three-run seventh inning sealed a 9-2 win for the Southland Vikings (15-18) over the DeKalb County Liners (21-14) on Tuesday at Homewood HS.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the fifth, with four lead changes.

The Southland Vikings finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fifth inning. A sacrifice fly by James Dawson scored Shane Brown and gave the Southland Vikings the lead for good.

Elliott Armstrong had two extra-base hits for the Southland Vikings. He doubled in the first inning and homered in the eighth inning.

Evan Neitfeldt's three strikeouts helped the Southland Vikings to the victory. The Southland Vikings' pitcher tossed five innings of shutout ball and allowed only four hits.

Tanner Funke (3-4) took the loss for the DeKalb County Liners. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed four runs.

The Southland Vikings were sparked by Dan Eliopulos and Armstrong, who teamed up for four hits and five RBIs.
