Things looked bleak for the Illinois Lincolns (14-9) when they trailed by four runs in the seventh inning, but the Illinois Lincolns recovered thanks to a key double in the seventh inning from Chris Hipchen to pull out a 14-7 win over the DuPage County Hounds (13-11) at Wayne King Field.
With the score tied at seven, Hipchen came to the plate and doubled.
Hipchen racked up seven RBIs on three hits for the Illinois Lincolns. He doubled in the sixth and seventh innings and homered in the eighth inning.
The Illinois Lincolns left no doubt in the outcome with six runs in the seventh.
Mike Hamilton brought the heat against the DuPage County Hounds during his outing. The DuPage County Hounds managed just one hit off of the the Illinois Lincolns' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out five during his four innings of work.
Tony Forcelledo couldn't get it done on the bump for the DuPage County Hounds, taking a loss. He lasted just zero innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
