The Rockford Foresters (6-15) jumped out to an early lead on the Southland Vikings (8-11) and captured a 9-1 victory on Wednesday at Marinelli Field.

Seven runs in the first three innings allowed the Rockford Foresters to put the game away early.

An RBI single by Phil Toldo, an error, and in the first inning and an RBI single by Jameson Henning, a sacrifice fly by Dane Sauer, an RBI single by Nick Richter, an RBI single by Jacob Lanning, an RBI single by Andy Roen, and a sacrifice fly by Toldo during the second inning helped the Rockford Foresters put some runs on the board early.

Richter reached base three times. He scored two runs and had one RBI.

Cody Steed racked up seven strikeouts in the the Rockford Foresters win. Steed allowed one earned run on six hits and four walks over eight innings.

Despite the loss, the Southland Vikings' Jim Tucker dominated the Rockford Foresters' batters, giving up two runs and striking out five.

Noah Anderson (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed seven runs in 1 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out one.
