The Illinois Lincolns (5-5) and the Rockford Foresters (3-6) traded the lead seven times on Wednesday, but the Illinois Lincolns ended up on top with an 8-6 win over the Rockford Foresters.

The Illinois Lincolns staved off the Rockford Foresters as the Rockford Foresters were unable to match the Illinois Lincolns down the stretch.

The Rockford Foresters scored one run in the ninth on an RBI double by Tyler Lau. Unfortunately, the Rockford Foresters weren't able to take the lead back.

Mark Bearmon had two extra-base hits for the Illinois Lincolns. He tripled in the fourth inning, singled in the second and fifth innings, and homered in the eighth inning.

Sam Welvaert improved to 1-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Illinois Lincolns. He allowed one run over three innings. He struck out eight, walked two and surrendered three hits.

Zach Gottman was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed no runs.
