John Loeffler drove in the go-ahead run to give the Northwest Indiana Oilmen (8-2) the lead in the ninth inning, as the Northwest Indiana Oilmen hung on to beat the DeKalb County Liners (5-3) 2-1 on Sunday.
Hunter Pruitt reached on an error to start the ninth. He then went from second to third on a groundout by Brandon Krieg. Finally, Loeffler came to the plate with the score tied at one, and singled, scoring Pruitt.Bennett Oliver reached base four times. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the eighth inning.
The DeKalb County Liners couldn't get anything going as long as Danny Britt was pitching. Britt held the DeKalb County Liners hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.
Eric Lockwood ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
