The Northwest Indiana Oilmen (8-2) and the Southland Vikings (2-4) both had scoring chances on Thursday, but it was the Northwest Indiana Oilmen that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out an 8-4 win at Oil City Stadium.
Billy Miller did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Northwest Indiana Oilmen, reaching base four times. He singled in the first, fifth, and eighth innings.
Chris Stevens was hot from the plate for the Southland Vikings. Stevens went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the first and eighth innings.
Joshua Negele got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed four runs over seven innings. He struck out six, walked one and surrendered nine hits.
Jason Ziegler was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked four and struck out seven.
