The Southland Vikings (1-1) trailed by three in the eighth, but Elliott Armstrong was able to capture the lead back with a single in the eighth, spurring the Southland Vikings to a 7-6 win over the Chicago Zephyrs (0-1) at Homewood HS on Saturday.

With the score tied at six in the eighth inning, Armstrong came to the plate and singled, bringing home Alec Ornelas.

Armstrong had a hot bat for the Southland Vikings. Armstrong went 2-5 and drove in one. He singled in the seventh and eighth innings.

Joey Migliaccio paced the Southland Vikings at the plate. Migliaccio went 3-4, drove in one and scored three runs. He homered in the third inning and singled in the first and eighth innings.

Tyler Willis got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed one run over two innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered two hits.

Kyle Limanowski (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked three, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
