The Southland Vikings (1-1) trailed by three in the eighth, but Elliott Armstrong was able to capture the lead back with a single in the eighth, spurring the Southland Vikings to a 7-6 win over the Chicago Zephyrs (0-1) at Homewood HS on Saturday.
With the score tied at six in the eighth inning, Armstrong came to the plate and singled, bringing home Alec Ornelas.
Armstrong had a hot bat for the Southland Vikings. Armstrong went 2-5 and drove in one. He singled in the seventh and eighth innings.
Joey Migliaccio paced the Southland Vikings at the plate. Migliaccio went 3-4, drove in one and scored three runs. He homered in the third inning and singled in the first and eighth innings.
