Three first-inning runs helped the East Texas Pump Jacks (18-4) to a 9-5 win over the Alexandria Aces (9-14) at Driller Park on Wednesday.
Kirby Pellant reached base three times in the game for the East Texas Pump Jacks. He singled in the first and fourth innings.
The Alexandria Aces had no answer for Cameron Gann, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Gann held the Alexandria Aces hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Lucas Quary had a hot bat for the Alexandria Aces. Quary went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the sixth inning and homered in the eighth inning.
Mike Hager recorded his third win of the year for the East Texas Pump Jacks. He allowed four runs over 7 2/3 innings. He struck out seven, walked two and surrendered nine hits.
Ben Frith (0-4) took the loss for the Alexandria Aces. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked two and struck out two.
