Six first-inning runs helped the St. Cloud Rox (23-38) to an 8-4 win over the Thunder Bay Border Cats (29-32) at Joe Faber Field on Thursday.
The St. Cloud Rox were led by Boo Vazquez's hitting. Vazquez went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the fifth inning.
Tony Mollica looked sharp on the mound. The Thunder Bay Border Cats managed just two hits off of Mollica, who allowed no earned runs, walked four and struck out six during his four innings of work.
The Thunder Bay Border Cats were led by Jerrick Suiter's hitting. Suiter went 2-5 and scored one run. He singled in the first innings and tripled in the fourth inning.
Dan Ludwig couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Thunder Bay Border Cats, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in one inning, walked none and struck out none.
