The St. Cloud Rox (21-37) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Alexandria Beetles (25-33), recording an 11-4 victory on Monday at Knute Nelson Memorial Park.
With six runs in the first three innings, the St. Cloud Rox left no doubt about the eventual outcome.
An RBI double by Mark Rhine and a three-run triple by Erik Kozel during the first inning and a groundout by Andy Henkemeyer, a groundout by Henkemeyer, and an error in the second inning fueled the St. Cloud Rox's offense early.Jamie Simpson racked up three RBIs on three hits for the St. Cloud Rox. It was a good day at the plate for the Alexandria Beetles' Tanner Vavra. Vavra went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the sixth inning and singled in the eighth inning.
Lucas Long got the win, running his season record to 2-1. He allowed four runs over eight innings. He struck out four, walked one and surrendered nine hits.
Shawn Riesgraf couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Alexandria Beetles, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked two and struck out one.
