Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Friday as the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (20-23) outscored the Madison Mallards (22-21) 10-8.

The teams totaled 28 hits in the game.

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters held off the Madison Mallards, as the Madison Mallards were unable to overcome a eight-run eighth inning deficit.

The Madison Mallards scored on an RBI single by Jeff Zimmerman, an RBI single by John Welborn, and an RBI single by Taylor Gushue in the eighth inning and a two-run single by Nicholas Howard, a two-run single by Howard, and a groundout by Zimmerman in the ninth inning. Still, the Madison Mallards couldn't draw even.

Austin Neary racked up three RBIs on four hits for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. He doubled in the fourth inning, homered in the seventh inning, and singled in the second and eighth innings.

Augey Bill got the win, running his season record to 2-0. He allowed two runs over six innings. Bill struck out two, walked one and gave up five hits.

Matt LaMothe ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out six, and allowed four runs.
