A passed ball, scoring Mike Reuvekamp gave the Madison Mallards (27-23) the lead in the eighth inning, and the Madison Mallards hung on to beat the Battle Creek Bombers (19-31) 3-2 on Wednesday.
Bobby Poyner baffled the Battle Creek Bombers, striking out nine batters. Poyner allowed no earned runs on four hits and one walk over six innings.
Danny Sullivan got the win, running his season record to 3-1. Sullivan struck out four, walked none and gave up no hits.
Ethan Bramschreiber (2-2) took the loss for the Battle Creek Bombers. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed one run.
