The Lakeshore Chinooks get late runs to finish off the Madison Mallards, 11-5

The Lakeshore Chinooks (12-13) scored three runs in the eighth to cap an 11-5 win over the Madison Mallards (10-15) on Saturday.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the sixth, with three lead changes.

The Lakeshore Chinooks pulled out the win thanks to a strong sixth inning. A groundout by Charlie Markson scored Scott Wilcox and Zack Granite and gave the Lakeshore Chinooks the lead for good.

Bre Kimbell racked up seven RBIs on three hits for the Lakeshore Chinooks. He homered in the first inning and singled in the seventh inning.

The Madison Mallards' lineup had no answer for Joe Greenfield. Greenfield gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his 2 1/3 innings of work.

Nick Soldano recorded his second win for the Lakeshore Chinooks even though he allowed five runs over 5 2/3 innings. Soldano struck out one, walked three and gave up nine hits.

Kyle Barbeck ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
