Fourth-inning rally sparks blowout win for the New Brunswick, 10-4

A seven-run explosion in the fourth inning hoisted the New Brunswick (2-3) to a 10-4 win in seven innings over the Newfoundland and Labrador at Midget Municipal Stadium on Saturday.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.

The New Brunswick finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fourth inning. A two-run error scored Ryan Foley and Nick Gaudet and gave the New Brunswick the lead for good.

Chris Thomas went a perfect 4-4 at the plate for the New Brunswick. He singled in the first, third, fourth, and sixth innings.

The Newfoundland and Labrador (0-5) couldn't get anything going as long as Adam Kerr was on the mound. Kerr held the Newfoundland and Labrador hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Forest Tobias recorded his second win of the year for the New Brunswick. He allowed four runs over six innings. Tobias struck out five, walked four and gave up six hits.

Ryan Harnett (0-2) took the loss for the Newfoundland and Labrador. He allowed nine runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked five and struck out two.
