Early lead not enough for the Peninsula Oilers, drop 5-2 decision to the Anchorage Bucs

The Peninsula Oilers (8-5) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 5-2 to the Anchorage Bucs (5-4) on Thursday.

The Anchorage Bucs took the lead in the fourth inning on a groundout by Zach Mathieu.

Zach Esquerra racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Anchorage Bucs. He singled in the fourth inning and homered in the sixth inning.

Jeff Grijalva struck out eight, paving the way for a the Anchorage Bucs win. Grijalva allowed two earned runs, three hits and four walks over 6 2/3 innings.

JD Sales was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
