The Matsu Miners (8-14) were never able to get over the hump and get over their troubles against the Anchorage Bucs (9-8) on Friday, as the Matsu Miners fell 9-7 at Hermon Brothers Field after falling behind by five runs in the sixth inning.
The Matsu Miners scored on a wild pitch and an RBI single by Bill Cullen in the sixth inning and a sacrifice fly by Erik Harbutz and a sacrifice fly by Ian Miller in the ninth inning. Despite their efforts, the Matsu Miners couldn't get over the hump.
Collin Ferguson racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Anchorage Bucs. He singled in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings.
Andrew Ferreira shut down the Matsu Miners while he was on the mound. Ferreira held the Matsu Miners hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out four.
Ross Mitchell was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out two.
