Things looked bleak for the Sacramento Scorch (7-17) when they trailed by three runs in the eighth inning, but the Sacramento Scorch recovered thanks to a key single in the eighth inning from Jake Riffice to pull out a 5-3 win over the Auburn Wildcats (22-11) at James Field.

With the score tied at three, Riffice came to the plate and singled, bringing home Mikey Nantze and Josh Aguirre.

Riffice reached base two times. He singled in the eighth inning.

It was a good day at the plate for the Sacramento Scorch's Trevor McVey. McVey went 2-4 and scored one run. He singled in the second inning and tripled in the eighth inning.

Cody Frank allowed two earned runs, five hits and four walks while striking out four over seven innings of work.
