The Quebec Capitales fend off the Newark Bears' late push, hold on 5-4

The Newark Bears (30-58) were never able to get over the hump and overcome their troubles against the Quebec Capitales (56-31) on Friday, as the Newark Bears fell 5-4 at Bears_Eagles Riverfront Stadium after falling behind by four runs in the fifth inning.

The Newark Bears scored on in the fifth inning and an RBI single by John Patrick Reardon IV, an error, and an RBI double by Tucker Nathans in the sixth inning. Unfortunately, the Newark Bears weren't able to take the lead back.

Rene Leveret put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Quebec Capitales. He homered in the fourth inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

Karl Gelinas kept contact to a minimum, striking out seven the Newark Bears batters. Gelinas allowed one earned run on seven hits and no walks over seven innings.

Mike Richard had a hot bat for the Newark Bears. Richard went 2-4 and scored one run. He singled in the third inning and tripled in the sixth inning.

Pedro Rivera (3-10) took the loss for the Newark Bears. He lasted just nine innings, walked one, struck out seven, and allowed five runs.
