Brandon Newton went 2-4, sparking the Sioux City Explorers to a 4-1 victory over the Rockland Boulders (43-41) on Thursday at Lewis _ Clark Park.
He singled in the first and eighth innings.The Sioux City Explorers relied on Aaron Correa to eat up innings en route to the win. Correa allowed one earned run, seven hits and one walk while striking out three over 6 2/3 innings of work.
Despite the loss, the Rockland Boulders' Gustavo Chacin dominated the Sioux City Explorers' batters, giving up two runs and striking out eight.
Billy Alvino went a perfect 3-3 at the dish for the Rockland Boulders. He singled in the second, seventh, and ninth innings.
Chacin (3-3) was the game's losing pitcher.
