The Amarillo Sox pounded the Worcester Tornadoes (14-28) on Tuesday 12-2 at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stad.
The Amarillo Sox scored five runs in the seventh on an error, an RBI single by Adam Buschini, a two-run double by Alberto Espinosa, and a sacrifice fly by Garrett Rau.
Jake Opitz had two extra-base hits for the Amarillo Sox. He homered in the fourth inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and singled in the seventh inning.
Ryan Mitchell got the win for the Amarillo Sox thanks to nine strikeouts. Mitchell allowed one earned run, eight hits and one walk over eight innings.
Johnny Welch paced the Worcester Tornadoes at the plate. Welch went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fourth inning.
Zach Zuercher couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Worcester Tornadoes, taking a loss. He allowed 12 runs in six innings, walked two and struck out three.
The Amarillo Sox's Buschini, Mitch Abeita, Espinosa and Opitz combined for 10 hits and eight RBIs.
