The Lincoln Saltdogs fend off the El Paso Diablos' late push, hold on 8-7

The El Paso Diablos (22-35) were never able to get over the hump and overcome their troubles against the Lincoln Saltdogs (24-35) on Friday, as the El Paso Diablos fell 8-7 at Cohen Stadium after falling behind by four runs in the eighth inning.

The El Paso Diablos scored three runs in the ninth on a three-run triple by Welington Dotel. Still, the El Paso Diablos couldn't catch the Lincoln Saltdogs.

The Lincoln Saltdogs' David Espinosa was perfect at the dish, going 3-3. He singled in the third and sixth innings and doubled in the eighth inning.

Maikol Gonzalez was solid at the plate for the El Paso Diablos. Gonzalez went 3-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the first, seventh, and ninth innings.

Ryan Sheldon improved to 5-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Lincoln Saltdogs. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out six, walked two and surrendered seven hits.

Steven Evarts was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked six, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
