The Worcester Tornadoes didn't stand a chance on Tuesday, as the Amarillo Sox (22-22) captured a blowout 12-2 win at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stad.
The Amarillo Sox scored five runs in the seventh on an error, an RBI single by Adam Buschini, a two-run double by Alberto Espinosa, and a sacrifice fly by Garrett Rau.
Jake Opitz had two extra-base hits for the Amarillo Sox. He homered in the fourth inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and singled in the seventh inning.
Ryan Mitchell struck out nine hitters en route to the the Amarillo Sox win. Mitchell allowed one earned run, eight hits and one walk over eight innings.
Johnny Welch was hot from the plate for the Worcester Tornadoes. Welch went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fourth inning.
The Amarillo Sox's Buschini, Opitz, Espinosa and Mitch Abeita combined for 10 hits and eight RBIs.
Zach Zuercher was charged with the loss. He allowed 12 runs in six innings, walked two and struck out three.
