Laredo Lemurs vs Grand Prairie AirHogs: 6-7

Boxscore | Game Recap | Boxscore Text Version | Gamelive Version

The Grand Prairie survive the Laredo 7-6 thanks to Lockwood's late-game heroics

Story by Narrative Science.

Trent Lockwood drove in the winning run to give the Grand Prairie (16-10) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Grand Prairie hung on to beat the Laredo (10-16) 7-6 on Wednesday.

After Andres Rodriguez was hit by a pitch, Lockwood came to the plate with two outs in the sixth and singled, bringing home Rodriguez and Bryan Frichter.

The Grand Prairie would not relinquish the lead as the Laredo were unable to weather a three-run sixth inning deficit.

The Laredo scored two runs in the ninth on a two-run home run by John Allen. Despite their efforts, the Laredo couldn't get over the hump.

David Thomas did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Grand Prairie, reaching base two times. He tripled in the third inning.

The Grand Prairie got the win thanks in large part to Josh Strawn's dominant, seven-strikeout performance. Strawn allowed no earned runs, three hits and one walk over seven innings.

Chris Chavez (2-4) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
