Tanner Townsend went 2-4, sparking the St Paul (9-6) to a 7-2 victory over the Newark on Saturday at Bears _ Eagles Riverfront Stadi.

Billy Spottiswood shut down the Newark while he was on the mound. Spottiswood held the Newark hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Despite the loss, the Newark's Matt Fitton dominated the St Paul's batters, giving up three runs and striking out five.

Josh Cephas improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the St Paul. He struck out two, walked four and surrendered one hit.

Pedro Rivera took the loss for the Newark. He lasted just five innings, walked four, struck out six, and allowed four runs.
