Zach Persky went 1-3, helping the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs (19-14) to an 8-5 victory over the Leesburg Lightning (22-12) on Thursday at Alfond Stadium.

The Winter Park Diamond Dawgs couldn't get anything going as long as Jonah Davis was on the mound. The Winter Park Diamond Dawgs managed just one hit off of Davis, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

Brett Nizamoff improved to 4-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs. He allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings. Nizamoff struck out three, walked one and gave up two hits.

Stetson Nelson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in two innings, walked one and struck out none.
