The Leesburg Lightning make the most of 6 hits in 4-3 victory over the Orlando Monarchs

The Leesburg Lightning (21-12) and the Orlando Monarchs (14-16) each put runners in scoring position on Thursday, but the Leesburg Lightning capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 4-3 win at Tinker Field.

The Leesburg Lightning staved off the Orlando Monarchs as the Orlando Monarchs were unable to match the Leesburg Lightning down the stretch.

The Orlando Monarchs scored on a solo home run by Jose Cruz in the third inning and a two-run single by Cruz in the sixth inning. Still, the Orlando Monarchs couldn't draw even.

Jason Matusik racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Leesburg Lightning. He homered in the third inning.

The Orlando Monarchs couldn't get anything going so long as Brett Jones was on the hill. The Orlando Monarchs managed just two hits off of Jones, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his 3 1/3 innings of work.

Stetson Nelson got the win, running his season record to 2-2. He allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings. Nelson struck out five, walked three and gave up five hits.

Tyrone Miller couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Orlando Monarchs, taking a loss. He lasted just three innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
