An excellent effort by Chris Ellis spurred the Baltimore Redbirds (28-13) to a 2-0 win over the Southern Maryland Nationals on Monday at Calvert Hall HS.
Ellis kept contact to a minimum, striking out 11 the Southern Maryland Nationals (15-26) batters. The Baltimore Redbirds' pitcher tossed seven innings of shutout ball and allowed only three hits.
Collin Fishman ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just seven innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed two runs.
