Cole Harrison brought home the winning run to give the Vienna River Dogs (13-9) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Vienna River Dogs hung on to beat the Southern Maryland Nationals (7-15) 8-6 on Friday.
Kevin Tatum doubled to start the eighth. He then went from second to third. Finally, Harrison came to the plate with the score tied at six, and reached on an error, plating Tatum and Trent Higginbothem.Higginbothem racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Vienna River Dogs. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the fourth inning.
Davis Hall looked sharp on the mound. Hall held the Southern Maryland Nationals hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Travis Clark ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed no runs.
