Boxscore | Game Recap | Boxscore Text Version | Gamelive Version

The Southern Maryland Nationals outdone by Rice and the Vienna River Dogs, 7-2

Story by Narrative Science.

Bobby Rice went 2-5 and hit a home run, sparking the Vienna River Dogs (13-9) to a 7-2 victory in seven innings over the Southern Maryland Nationals (7-15) on Friday at Regency Furniture Stadium.

He homered in the second inning and singled in the third inning.

The Vienna River Dogs got the win thanks in large part to Joseph Vanderplas's dominant, eight-strikeout performance. Vanderplas allowed one earned run, two hits and four walks over seven innings.

Nickolay Uherek ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked four and struck out eight.
