An ace performance by Josh Herzenberg spurred the Vienna River Dogs (13-9) to a 4-2 win over the D.C. Grays on Monday at James Madison High School.

Herzenberg handled the D.C. Grays (10-13)'s lineup with ease, racking up 12 strikeouts. Herzenberg allowed one earned run, one hit and one walk over seven innings.

Shaun Wood delivered a big hit off the bench in the one.. His pinch-hit single was the key moment in the Vienna River Dogs' two-run win.

With the game scoreless in the first inning Wood came to the plate and singled.

Wood reached base three times in the game for the Vienna River Dogs.

John Beaubien paced the D.C. Grays at the plate. Beaubien went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the second inning.

Brett Williams improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Vienna River Dogs. Williams struck out none, walked none and gave up no hits.

Joe Donino couldn't get it done on the bump for the D.C. Grays, taking a loss. He lasted just eight innings, walked six, struck out 11, and allowed four runs.
