The Silver Spring Takoma T Bolts top the Vienna River Dogs in back-and-forth affair, 8-5

After five lead changes in Saturday's game at Blair Stadium, the Silver Spring Takoma T Bolts (8-13) finally pulled out a 8-5 win over the Vienna River Dogs (13-9).

Ben Carson put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Silver Spring Takoma T Bolts. He homered in the second inning.

The Vienna River Dogs couldn't get anything going as long as Paul Beers was pitching. Beers gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his 3 1/3 innings of work.

The Vienna River Dogs were led by Casey Turner's hitting. Turner went 2-4 and scored two runs. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Even though James Mills allowed five runs over 5 2/3 innings he still recorded the victory, his second of the season. He struck out one, walked two and surrendered 10 hits.

Connor Bach couldn't get it done on the bump for the Vienna River Dogs, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in six innings, walked one and struck out eight.

The Silver Spring Takoma T Bolts were sparked by Kurt Wertz Jr. and Carson, who teamed up for six hits and four RBIs.
