The Bethesda Big Train (7-9) trailed by four in the fifth, but Brennan Middleton was able to capture the lead back with a single in the eleventh, spurring the Bethesda Big Train to a 16-11 win in 11 innings over the Vienna River Dogs (8-7) at James Madison High School on Wednesday.
With the score tied at 10, Middleton came to the plate and singled, plating Colin Kish and Cole Norton.
Middleton paced the Bethesda Big Train at the plate. Middleton went 3-5, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the third, ninth, and eleventh innings.
The two teams combined for 27 runs and 37 hits, including zero extra base hits. There were seven pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.
Hugh Adams recorded his first win of the year for the Bethesda Big Train. He allowed one run over two innings. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered four hits.
Johnny Bladel ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked two and struck out none.
