Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Thursday as the Silver Spring Takoma T Bolts (5-7) outscored the Baltimore Redbirds (7-5) 9-8.

The teams totaled 16 hits in the game.

The Silver Spring Takoma T Bolts would not relinquish the lead as the Baltimore Redbirds were unable to weather a five-run second inning deficit.

The Baltimore Redbirds scored on an RBI single by Mark Zagunis, a sacrifice fly by Kyle Neverman, and a groundout by Pat Fitzgerald in the fourth inning, a three-run home run by Matt Bosse in the fifth inning, and a two-run double by Neverman in the eighth inning. Despite their efforts, the Baltimore Redbirds couldn't get over the hump.

Ben Carson racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Silver Spring Takoma T Bolts. He homered in the fifth inning.

Paul Beers recorded his first win of the year for the Silver Spring Takoma T Bolts. He allowed two runs over 2 2/3 innings. He struck out three, walked two and surrendered two hits.

Brian Connolly ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked three and struck out three.
