Freddie Bynum brought home the winning run to give the Somerset Patriots (52-53) the lead in the ninth inning, as the Somerset Patriots hung on to beat the Bridgeport Bluefish (48-54) 4-2 on Thursday.

Adam Donachie doubled to start the ninth. He then went from second to third on a stolen base. Finally, Bynum came to the plate with the score tied at two in the ninth inning, and singled, plating Donachie.

Carlton Smith recorded his second win of the year for the Somerset Patriots. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Julio DePaula (1-1) took the loss for the Bridgeport Bluefish. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
