A great effort by Jason Monti carried the Long Island Ducks (43-34) to a 2-1 win over the Sugar Land Skeeters on Friday at Bethpage Ballpark.
Monti's 10 strikeouts helped the Long Island Ducks to the victory. Monti allowed no earned runs, five hits and two walks over nine innings.
Jason Lane held the Long Island Ducks scoreless for seven innings. Lane allowed two hits, one walk and struck out six.
A walk-off single by Dan Lyons gave the Long Island Ducks the win.
Lyons led the Long Island Ducks' offensive threat, as he got on base two times in the game. He also drove in one runner. He singled in the ninth inning.
Gary Majewski ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
