Blaine Tanner hit two home runs to carry the Utica (8-6) to an 18-8 win over the Sherrill (6-8) at Noyes Park.
Tanner racked up six RBIs on three hits for the Utica. He homered in the first and second innings and singled in the sixth inning.
The two teams combined for 26 runs and 30 hits, including zero extra base hits. Managers of the two teams seemingly emptied their bullpens in search of the win, as there were 10 pitchers used in the game.
Ten runs in the first three innings helped the Utica blow out the Sherrill. An RBI single by Matt Bahnick, a two-run double by Jesse Pintado, and a three-run home run by Tanner during the first inning and an RBI single by Pintado and a three-run home run by Tanner in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Utica.
Jason Ziegler had an impressive outing against the Sherrill's lineup. The Sherrill managed just two hits off of Ziegler, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out six during his five innings of work.
Troy Loparco couldn't get it done on the bump for the Sherrill, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in one inning, walked one and struck out none.
The Utica easily handled the Sherrill pitching as seven hitters combined for 19 hits, 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
