A magnificent effort by Grant Heyman hoisted the GEN Red Wings (12-21) to an 11-10 win over the SYR Salt Cats (12-21) on Thursday at LeMoyne College Field.
Heyman blasted two home runs for the GEN Red Wings. Heyman went 3-5 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Heyman homered in the first and fifth innings.
The two teams combined for 21 runs and 26 hits, including zero extra base hits. There were 10 pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.
The GEN Red Wings would not relinquish the lead as the SYR Salt Cats were unable to weather a seven-run fifth inning deficit.
The SYR Salt Cats scored on an RBI double by Jake Cintolo in the fifth inning, an RBI single by Jimmy Napolitano, an RBI single by Ethan Braddock, a single by Braddock, , and a double by Corbin Gapski in the sixth inning, and an RBI double by Napolitano in the seventh inning. Still, the SYR Salt Cats couldn't catch the GEN Red Wings.
Jeff Croteau recorded his second win of the year for the GEN Red Wings. He allowed one run over one inning. Croteau struck out none, walked none and gave up two hits.
Roberto Morales was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out three.
