A superb effort by Jordan Sechler spurred the Utica (17-11) to a 1-0 win over the SYR Salt Cats (9-17) on Saturday at Donovan Stadium.
Sechler kept the SYR Salt Cats off the board during his eight innings of work. Sechler allowed four hits, one walk and struck out four.
Sean Williams baffled the Utica, striking out seven batters. Williams allowed no earned runs on four hits and one walk over eight innings.
Williams (2-1) took the loss for the SYR Salt Cats.
