A great effort by Jimmy Napolitano spurred the SYR Salt Cats (6-13) to a 15-12 win in 10 innings over the Sherrill (7-12) on Thursday at Noyes Park.
Napolitano hit two home runs for the SYR Salt Cats. Napolitano went 3-4 in the game with four RBIs and four runs scored. Napolitano homered in the first and seventh innings.
Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 27 runs and 33 hits, including zero extra base hits. Managers of the two teams seemingly emptied their bullpens in search of the win, as there were 11 pitchers used in the game.
The SYR Salt Cats got their bats going early, scoring four runs in the first inning to pull ahead of the Sherrill.
Bo Watson got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Watson struck out five, walked one and gave up one hit.
Baron Roberts couldn't get it done on the bump for the Sherrill, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
