A loss looked likely for the SYR Salt Cats (17-23) when they trailed by five runs in the sixth inning, but the SYR Salt Cats were able to capture the lead back with a an RBI single by Conor Thompson in the seventh inning, spurring the SYR Salt Cats to an 11-10 win over the SYR JR Chiefs (26-12) at Alliance Bank Stadium on Sunday.

With the score tied at nine in the seventh inning, Thompson came to the plate and singled, bringing home Kevin Bailey.

Thompson was hot from the plate for the SYR Salt Cats. Thompson went 2-5 and scored one run. He singled in the fourth and seventh innings.

Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 21 runs and 27 hits, including zero extra base hits. There were nine pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.

Jake Cintolo racked up three RBIs on three hits for the SYR Salt Cats. He singled in the first, third, and seventh innings.

Joe Riley got the win, running his season record to 1-4. He allowed two runs over 2 1/3 innings. Riley struck out three, walked one and gave up four hits.

Zachary Stuart couldn't get it done on the mound for the SYR JR Chiefs, taking a loss. He lasted just zero innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
