Ben Gielow did his part on the hill, but it wasn't enough to carry the Hornell (23-11) to a win on Saturday, as the Hornell fell to the Wellsville (14-23) 6-2 at Maple City Park in 12 innings.
Gielow looked sharp on the mound. The Wellsville managed just one hit off of Gielow, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out four during his seven innings of work.
Nick Fornaca delivered a big hit off the bench in the 10.. His pinch-hit single was the key moment in the Wellsville's four-run win.
With Fornaca came to the plate and singled.
The Wellsville were in a difficult situation in the seventh inning before they recovered for the win.
Montana Timmons racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Wellsville. He singled in the eighth inning and doubled in the twelfth inning.
Matt Fishman recorded his first win of the year for the Wellsville. He struck out five, walked none and surrendered two hits.
Aaron Benton (0-1) took the loss for the Hornell. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
