Kody Kirkland was cold coming off the bench, but Kirkland warmed up quickly as Kirkland stroked a key pinch-hit single in the two to lead the Lancaster Barnstormers (43-25) to a 13-1 win over the Long Island Ducks (39-28) on Friday at Clipper Magazine.
With the Lancaster Barnstormers leading by one in the second inning, Kirkland came to the plate and singled.
The Lancaster Barnstormers continued to pile on the runs until the end of the game. The Lancaster Barnstormers scored four runs in the last three innings to finish off the blowout win. The Lancaster Barnstormers scored three runs in the seventh on a solo home run by Tommy Everidge, an RBI single by Kirkland, and an RBI single by Francisco Hernandez.
Everidge racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Lancaster Barnstormers.
Dwayne Pollok picked up the win for the Lancaster Barnstormers. Pollok allowed one earned run, seven hits and one walk while striking out four over six innings of work.
Dan Meyer (2-5) took the loss for the Long Island Ducks. He allowed six runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked six and struck out four.
