The Wellsville (11-16) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Olean (14-10), recording a 13-5 victory on Friday at St. Bonaventure.
The game was decided quickly as the Wellsville exerted their will early with 10 runs in the first three innings.
An RBI double by Kory Wan, an RBI double by Wan, and a sacrifice fly by Montana Timmons during the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Nicholas Gill, a double by Kolin McMillen, a single by Wan, and a solo home run by Timmons in the second inning fueled the Wellsville's offense early.McMillen racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Wellsville.
The Olean's lineup had no answer for Matt Fischman. Fischman held the Olean hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Joe Pantano put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Olean. He doubled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and tripled in the seventh inning.
TJ Hunt recorded his second win of the year for the Wellsville. He allowed four runs over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out eight, walked one and surrendered nine hits.
Mike Tolsma was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed 10 runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out one.
