Niagara vs Hornell: 5-18

The Hornell jump on the Niagara early and coast to 18-5 win

The Hornell (17-7) shut the door early on the Niagara (10-10), capturing an 18-5 victory on Monday at Maple City Park.

The game was decided quickly as the Hornell exerted their will early with seven runs in the first three innings.

A two-run single by Luke Feisal during the first inning and a single by Will Benenson, a hit by pitch, an RBI single by Kevin Johnson, an RBI single by Johnson, a sacrifice fly by Kyle Danford, , and an RBI single by Feisal in the second inning helped the Hornell put some runs on the board early.

Feisal racked up seven RBIs on four hits for the Hornell.

The Niagara couldn't get anything going as long as Garrett Hoag was pitching. Hoag held the Niagara hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three.

Tyler Schweigert paced the Niagara at the plate. Schweigert went 2-5, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the ninth inning.

Even though Nicholas Boyd allowed five runs over six innings he still recorded the victory, his fourth of the season. Boyd struck out four, walked three and gave up eight hits.

Jonathan Knapp couldn't get it done on the hill for the Niagara, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked five and struck out none.
