The Niagara (6-5) were unable to fight back from the big hole they dug themselves into against the Wellsville (7-10), and the Niagara lost 8-6 to the Wellsville after falling behind by three runs in the fifth inning.
The Niagara scored on a groundout by Nicholas Linne and a groundout by Linne in the sixth inning, an RBI double by Jamon Hammel in the seventh inning, and a solo home run by Taylor Sears in the ninth inning. Despite their efforts, the Niagara couldn't finish the comeback.
Pete Strommen racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Wellsville. He homered in the fifth inning.
Cameron Langfels's six strikeouts helped the Wellsville to the victory. Langfels allowed four earned runs on three hits and two walks over seven innings.
Sears was solid at the plate for the Niagara. Sears went 1-4, drove in one and scored two runs.
David Kaplan couldn't get it done on the hill for the Niagara, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
